As someone who grew up in Mumbai, India, I know a thing or two about the colorful and exotic ingredients used in this recipe. Ube, a purple sweet potato that is the star of the co*cktail, is a popular ingredient in the Philippines. The vibrant color of this root vegetable is enough to make me want to create a recipe around it. And when I tasted it, I knew it would make for an amazing co*cktail. The creamy coconut milk and tangy lime juice add a tropical twist that remind me of my travels through the Caribbean.

The Ube has been a staple in Filipino cuisine for generations and is used in desserts, bread, and even ice cream. In the Philippines, Ube ice cream is so popular that some people even eat it with bread instead of cones. How cool is that? The Ube is not only delicious, but it’s also packed with nutrients like vitamins A and C, iron, and fiber. Fun fact: Ube is also used in traditional Filipino medicine to help lower blood sugar levels. So, you can feel good about sipping on this co*cktail that is both tasty and nutritious. Yum!

Purple Bliss: Fresh Ube co*cktail Recipe is a vibrant and refreshing drink that takes inspiration from the tropical flavors of the Caribbean and the Philippines. The star of the drink is the Ube, a versatile and nutritious purple sweet potato that has been a staple in Filipino cuisine for generations. I mashed fresh ube to create a sweet and colorful puree that serves as the base for this delicious drink. I blended the ube puree with creamy coconut milk, tangy lime juice, and a touch of agave nectar to create a smooth and frothy co*cktail that’s perfect for a hot summer afternoon. To serve, I garnished the drink with lime wedges and crispy Ube chips for an extra pop of color and fun crunch. This co*cktail recipe is easy to make, using a simple blender and just a few easy steps. Give it a try for happy hour or your next party and impress your guests with this unique and tasty drink!

Ingredients:

  • Ube – The star of the co*cktail, ube (purple sweet potato) is what gives this drink its vibrant hue and subtle sweetness. If you can’t find fresh ube, frozen or powdered ube can be used instead.
  • Coconut Milk – Coconut milk adds a creamy and rich tropical flavor to the co*cktail. You can use full-fat or light coconut milk depending on your preference.
  • Lime Juice – Fresh lime juice adds a tangy and bright flavor to balance the sweetness of the ube. If you don’t have limes, lemons can be used instead.
  • Agave Nectar – Agave nectar provides a natural sweetness and is perfect for sweetening co*cktails without adding additional flavors. You can use honey or simple syrup as a substitute.
  • Ice Cubes – Ice cubes are essential for a refreshing and chilled co*cktail. Crushed ice can also be used for a slushier texture.
  • Lime Wedges and Ube Chips – Lime wedges and ube chips make for a beautiful and fun garnish. Ube chips can be made by thinly slicing fresh ube and baking in the oven until crispy.

Coconut milk is a creamy and indulgent ingredient that adds a rich tropical flavor to any dish. It is a common ingredient in Southeast Asian and Caribbean cuisine, and has become increasingly popular in recent years as a vegan milk alternative. Coconut milk is naturally free from lactose, soy, and gluten, making it a great option for those with dietary restrictions or allergies. In this co*cktail recipe, I use coconut milk to create a smooth and creamy texture that complements the subtle sweetness of the ube and adds a hint of coconut flavor. Whether you have a dairy intolerance or simply love the taste of coconut, coconut milk is a fantastic ingredient to have on hand for a variety of recipes.
