Homemadeversion is better-than-burger-king’s-French-toast. We don’t just say it, it’s better for manyreasons:

Why Homemade French Toast Sticks Are Better

  • There is no thickbatter coating like Burger King’s version. I personally hate that thick battercoating and do not give me a feel of eating French toast. French Toast ideallyshould have light, airy, egg-milk mixture coating and not thick batter coating.
  • French toast and cinnamon sugar are best pairedtogether. You can coat your homemade version with as much cinnamon sugar. You’llmiss the cinnamon sugar coating in BK’s version.
  • You can use any bread of your choice as per yourdietary requirement. Use gluten-free bread and it still tastes good.
  • The joy of eating it as soon as it’s out of the pan coated generously in cinnamon sugar is something else! Eat it hot and fresh!

Can I Freeze French Toast Sticks

Yes you absolutely can. While personally I love to make a batch enough to eat it the day it’s made, you can make big batch and have it frozen for another morning. You’ll need to tweak this recipe a little.

I wasn’t planning on freezing a batch, I used milk in egg mixture that is used to coat the bread. Using heavy cream instead of milk will help you freeze these sticks better. So it’s doesn’t taste dried when reheated.

Replace milkwith heavy cream in the recipe. Follow rest of the recipe. Make French toaststicks. Allow it to cool completely(for freezing purpose, skip cinnamon sugarcoating). Then move these into gallon sized freezer friendly zip-lock bags. Youcan keep them frozen for about a month or month and a half.

Roll it in cinnamon sugar just before serving only. You can freeze the ones coated in sugar.

Soon as it’sheated, roll in cinnamon sugar and serve with maple syrup and fresh berries.
